This Summer has me
singing in the rain
in a secret carousel
a labyrinth of sorts.
Bloody typical.
Despicable me.
I wish I was free
like Shirley Valentine
or a ladybird
on a shopping spree!
Warm hands
observing on the verge of nosiness
observing my hands, their shape and stubbiness
the feeling of the sun
strands of light through bay windows.
Mad from the sun/mad from the moon
mad from the dream that split through.
Shapes of clouds
in skies above
where coverns sleep
and study each other’s palms
I’ve seen her before
the one with the flickery smile.
She waits in blue by the lane
at the end of the alley, ciggy aflame
like the ballet girls she loves to linger
at night on carpark corners
waiting for something
A release, a miracle ride.
An epiphany occurs and suddenly she’s off
like a bolt in the darkness.
